WONDERS OF NATURE

WONDERS OF NATURE

Diamonds are spectacular stones of unusual strength formed up to 3.2 billion years ago at intense pressure and temperature below the surface of the earth. Diamonds in the rough are carefully excavated from earth, riverbeds, and the bottom of the ocean, and in the hands of expert craftsmen they are polished into rare gems of exceptional brilliance. Even before the invention of facets unleashed intense light in diamonds, diamonds have been attributed rare and captivating traits: objects of healing powers, symbols of invincibility, splinters from stars, and tears of the gods. When brilliant cut they radiate timeless glamour – and are tokens of love and eternity. For centuries, they have perpetuated love stories across the globe.

THE FOUR C’S

The four Cs are the globally accepted standards for assessing the quality of a diamond. Each of the four Cs: carat, clarity, colour and cut, contributes to the value and unique beauty of a diamond. The globally accepted industry standards for grading diamonds are created by GIA (The Gemological Institute of America), the world’s foremost authority on diamonds. State-of-the-art technology is employed to determine the exact characteristics and quality of each diamond.

For every step on the diamond grading scale, there is a significant distinction. Many of these distinctions are so subtle as to be invisible to the untrained eye, but even slight differences make a great impact on the cost and quality of the diamond.

C FOR CARAT

Carat is the standard mass measuring unit used to determine the weight of a diamond. 1 carat = 0.20 grams. Even a fraction of a carat can make a considerable difference in both the cost and appearance of the diamond.

C FOR CLARITY

Clarity refers to the absence of inclusions and blemishes in the diamond. The fewer so called natural birthmarks, the more light will pass through the stone facets.

C FOR COLOUR

Diamonds are valued by how closely they approach colourlessness. The less colour in a white diamond, the rarer and more valuable it is. Fancy colour diamonds, such as pinks, yellows, and blues, lie outside this colour range.

C FOR CUT

The cut determines how the diamond interacts with light and it is the cut that fuels the diamond’s fire, sparkle, and brilliance. For that reason, the allure of a particular diamond depends more on cut quality than anything else.

We have advanced systems in place to ensure that our diamonds are natural and untreated, to the best of our knowledge. Only the very best diamonds remain in this assortment, concerning make, quality, and consistency.

FINEST QUALITY AND DESIGN

OLE LYNGGAARD COPENHAGEN’s fine jewellery collections offer a wide variety of exclusive designs set with brilliant cut diamonds wrapped in 18 karat gold. Every angle and every detail is carefully designed to elevate the brilliance of the precious diamonds. We guarantee finest quality diamonds and always strive to pick diamonds that are the best within each step on the diamond grading scale.

Most diamonds in our fine jewellery collections are classified TW.VS. TW (Top Wesselton) is equivalent to F-G on the GIA colour-scale defining a high-grade diamond that is colourless or near colourless. VS describes the clarity of the diamond as very slightly included, which signifies that it is almost impossible to identify any inclusions without intense magnification. We do not source diamonds with inclusions visible to the naked eye: our minimum standard is colour G, clarity SI-1.

Most diamonds from OLE LYNGGAARD COPENHAGEN are brilliant cut and are classified in the top-grade categories excellent or very good on the GIA diamond cut-scale. Brilliant cut diamonds are cut with 57 facets permitting the stone facets to unleash light with unrivalled intensity. The geometric form of the brilliant cut is designed to optimise the diamond’s dispersion (the way the light is spread in colours) and brilliance (the reflection of light) is the result of meticulous craftsmanship. Besides brilliant-cut diamonds we also offer fancy cut diamonds such as pear and oval.

CERTIFICATES

We authenticate your solitaire diamond purchase with a detailed grading report. It guarantees the authenticity (that the diamond is natural) and uniqueness of the diamond. The grading report consists of three international certificates that belong to that specific piece of jewellery:

  • A GIA Diamond Report (from the Gemological Institute of America)
  • A IGI Diamond Report (from the International Gemological Institute)
  • An HRD diamond report (from Hoge Raad voor Diamant meaning the Diamond High Council)

The report is unique, irreplaceable and must always follow the diamond. The report comes wrapped in an envelope with your solitaire diamond jewellery.

In addition to this detailed report, all diamonds above 0.30 ct. come with an OLE LYNGGAARD COPENHAGEN certificate made by our diamond supplier in Denmark.
